The language LEARN Games

The Language LEARN Games are game simulations in which a simplified version of LEARN Game Entrepreneurship is played in a foreign language in 2 hours. A version with only 7 color building blocks (2 × 2 studs and 2 × 4 studs) and 7 color base plates. That, we know, ensures that communication between the game participants goes very quickly. A communication that is supported by a “word fan” (word fan) with the various basic concepts and simple dialogues displayed in a handy, usable way.

In addition to game simulation, all sorts of activities take place to stimulate the senses, so that learning experiences can be remembered more quickly. (reference creation is the name for this). So learn by constantly using all your senses. Feeling, tasting, smelling, hearing and seeing the foreign language and the accompanying culture while you always experience positive emotions in the deals you close in the game simulations. That works. You learn a basic vocabulary in a foreign language very quickly. For example Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Hindi but of course languages that are a bit closer such as German, Dutch or Frisian.

The Language LEARN Games are supported with the LE-Voculearn learning software. The VocuLearn program offers the user the possibility to learn a large amount of “language data” in a systematic way. In most cases these will be words or phrases in a foreign language, but the program can also be used for completely different topics, such as lists of medical terms and learning the multiplication tables. Characteristic of Voculearn is the attention for reflection of the knowledge acquired during the learning process.

  • The objective is to make communication possible at the uniform CEF A1 European Level. To a large extent that works (write less, because that is not in the game simulation)
  • Introduction to the corresponding culture in a playful way

The world language program

The current educational infrastructure does not do justice to the need for learning processes of gifted children. A lot has been published about the “what” and the structure of “what” should be learned. Such as the intended competencies, higher goals, especially through Bloom (taxonomy). Theory enough. But how should you shape challenging learning processes?
Now many gifted individuals are decisive for their attitude to the learning process, that you can indicate WHY they should learn that. Rule 1: what do I get out of it. So what can I do with it in the future.

That is why we have thought of the challenge of being able to communicate with the vast majority of the world in their own language with some knowledge of cultural, historical and geographical backgrounds. The 6 most important world languages: Russian, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic and English.
Learning to communicate in a meaningful way by learning through play, an action point system and with constant positive feedback. This is done with peer groups in a lesson program that takes around 2 hours a week and can take place on location. Moreover, these are learning processes that do not conflict with what is being done in current education – at school.

Every gifted person who completes the learning processes will then be a true future world citizen.

Memory Games

A series of three connecting memory games in a foreign language (Russian, Hindi, Arabic), these are our maximum learning minimal energy games. Finalist at the European competition of game based learning on 3 October in Odense (DK) at the ECGBL2019 conference.

With this we focus on activating “unconscious learning of foreign languages” supplemented with specific reflection moments via Kahoot.

The learning concept behind it is that minimal learning energy is needed, because it is about words that you already know, without your knowledge. The identical words. An example is 2 cappuccino where you put two fingers in the air: you get 2 cappuccino in both China and Europe.

That way you can quickly learn a basic vocabulary in the foreign language, with which we transform “unconscious knowledge” into conscious knowledge. Playfully, without effort.
